“Don’t crucify Ravi B.”  That’s the plea from Caribbean Prestige Foundation (CPF) chairman William Munroe in light of chutney soca artiste Ravi B’s (Bissembhar’s) behaviour at the Chutney Soca Monarch competition, Skinner Park, San Fernando recently.  Singing Cyah Come When Ah Drinking Rum, Ravi B was first runner-up to winner Rikki Jai. But the result and the fact he had missed the $2 million jackpot evoked his ire. Enraged, he incited patrons to pelt missiles on stage to show their dissatisfaction at the results.  He later said he regretted the hasty act.  During the build up to C2k11, Ravi B had also earned a slot in the finals of the (Power) bmobile International Soca Monarch and Play Whe Groovy Soca Monarch Competitions 2011. ‘Repair tarnished image’

Asked whether Ravi B would be disqualified, Munroe said: “I can’t do that. I don’t like to crucify anybody. Let’s not crucify Ravi B. If I could do anything to amend it, I would be happy to. I know he made a bad blunder.  Let’s not crucify him.” Munroe said he was especially saddened since Ravi B and his band Karma boasted a promising career.  Ravi B still has another shot at winning $2 million. “I am sorry, to be honest. As a young fellow he just lost it.” “They are calling him the Machel in the chutney arena and to know he made such a blunder, it is sad,” added Munroe. But Munroe advised Ravi B to continue to make every effort to repair his tarnished image.

“Let him find a way to deal with the public and tell them something like that would never happen again. I just hope although he apologised the public would believe he was sincere.” Munroe suggested “he take some time off and go into the schools and let the children know it was a bad error. “He has to let them know he was genuinely sorry,” said Munroe. Winding up his sentiments, Munroe said: “I want to wish him all the best in the future.”
