Nicole Thomas has retained her crown as the Tobago Calypso Monarch. The competition was held at the Garden Side car park in Scarborough on Wednesday night. Thomas sang the composition Spirit of Truth which spoke of the consequences of not telling the truth and the persons that may be affected. She scored 588 points. Second was Alex "Tobago Chalkie" Gift with 584 point with his composition Follow your Ancestor's Prints. Giselle "GG" Fraser–Washington placed third with her calypso Ah Ain't Voting.
Meanwhile, Candice Chang-Sandy, wife of THA of Secretary of Agriculture Hilton Sandy is the Tobago Queen of the Band.
Chang-Sandy came from the band Gloria Stoute and Associate. She displayed the costume Silver Jubilee. In second position was Latoya Bedlow with her portrayal, Zanaru–Lafy of the Plain while Charlene Gopaul won the third place with her costume Mother India. The King of the Band went to Kit Promotions' Kerry Alfred with the costume King of Olympus. Second was Kesion Roachford with Lost Fans of King Pele and third place Winston Chandband with his portrayal African Splendour. The Tobago Festival's Committee continues events tonight with the Windward Afro Queen show and Windward Calypso Monarch competitions at the Syd Gray Sporting Complex in Roxborough. The event kicks off at 8 pm.
