The quiet community of Caparo, central Trinidad, is mourning the death of 40-year-old Peter Wallace, of Chickland Road, who was stabbed to death by a villager. According to a report, Wallace and a neighbour were together when a dispute ensued, and after a heated argument, he was stabbed several times in the abdomen. Police received a call from the Chaguanas Health Centre after 2 pm about Wallace being brought in to the centre dead.
The man, police were told, had a wound to the chest. He was brought in by passers-by who found him on the side of the road at Chickland Village. He was pronounced dead at the health centre. According to police reports, the two men were drinking yesterday afternoon when they began arguing. A team of senior police officials from the Chaguanas CID visited the scene. A 40-year-old man is assisting the Brasso police in the inquiries. "Caparo is always a very peaceful community and no one expected such, as the people are knitted together at all times," an official of the Caparo Village Council said.
