Two lawmen were allegedly beaten by a group of diners, which included a Sangre Grande businessman, at a fast food outlet on Tuesday night. Nine people, including the businessman, were arrested by the police. A report said the officers visited the business establishment around 11 pm and told the management to turn off the music following the Carnival celebration.
The owner, along with the diners who were outside, refused to turn off the music and then alleged physically and verbally assaulted the officers. The diners and the businessman then ran into the business place and locked themselves in the premises. The officers called for backup. Officers on patrol responded and broke down the front door. Police then arrested the nine people.
