Police shot and killed a man who has been referred to as “a known robber,” in Pleasantville, yesterday. Dead is 24-year-old Ryan Alves who has two addresses—Blitz Village, Pleasantville, and Trainline, Marabella. Officers from the San Fernando Criminal Investigative Department (CID) received a tip-off that two men wanted for rape and robbery were liming in Blitz Village. On arriving, they saw one of the men seated in a Nissan B14 car. As the officers approached, the car sped off and the officers gave chase. Police said the car drove into a dead-end road and that Alves jumped out and fired several shots at them.

They fired back and Alves was hit in the chest. He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died some 30 minutes later. A .22 pistol and several rounds of ammunition was recovered. Police are still in search of the other man. —KF
