Women walking along the streets of Princes Town are being warned to leave their expensive jewelry at home as police have recorded an increase in snatchings.Within recent weeks, the police have recorded 15 snatchings.Police say the robber, who has an accomplice with a vehicle, is targeting women walking on side streets and lonely areas in and around Princes Town."There is no need to wear so much jewelry when going to drop children to school," said a police source.
The robber is also targeting women on Circular Street, Princes Town, as they leave the District Area Hospital."We are asking people in the Princes Town area, especially women walking on back streets in the town who wear bracelets and excessive jewelry to be careful of their environment," the police source said.The robber, the police source said, is attacking women from behind. In an unrelated report, Princes Town police have arrested 13 people and seized 300 grammes of marijuana during an anti-crime exercise over the weekend.The exercise, spearheaded by Sgt Don Gajadhar, assisted by Cpl Teeluck and Cpl Rivero, was conducted Friday night into Saturday in the Mandingo Road area.Officers from the Princes Town CID and High Performance Unit carried out raids at several homes and seized the drugs.
