Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs says the $30 million worth of high-grade marijuana found in a shipping container last week Thursday was "a very good drug haul."Gibbs said the raid was "successful" and police officers will continue in their efforts to battle illegal drugs. He was speaking to reporters on Monday after the official handing over of musical instruments to the Beetham Gardens Police Youth Club on the Beetham Highway."We had a very successful drug raid," Gibbs said.
"Lots of marijuana were seized and certainly it has alerted us about several other containers there (Point Lisas port), so we will be looking and carrying our investigation further, hopefully to do some more in connection with the drugs."During a search last Thursday, police officers found a shipping container which came from Jamaica containing 800 kilogrammes of marijuana at the port."We look at any kind of contraband...drugs, guns that come in from different countries, including Jamaica and certainly we don't want that in our country and we want to stop it before it gets distributed.
"This was a very good drug haul but we also know that it is just one of probably many that has come our way and so we want to continue that battle against drugs...it is very important for us."Questioned about the investigation into the death of Daniel Guerra, Gibbs said the investigation was continuing."The investigation is still looking at possible suspects," Gibbs added.
