Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Dwayne Gibbs says the $30 mil­lion worth of high-grade mar­i­jua­na found in a ship­ping con­tain­er last week Thurs­day was "a very good drug haul."Gibbs said the raid was "suc­cess­ful" and po­lice of­fi­cers will con­tin­ue in their ef­forts to bat­tle il­le­gal drugs.He was speak­ing to re­porters on Mon­day af­ter the of­fi­cial hand­ing over of mu­si­cal in­stru­ments to the Beetham Gar­dens Po­lice Youth Club on the Beetham High­way."We had a very suc­cess­ful drug raid," Gibbs said.

"Lots of mar­i­jua­na were seized and cer­tain­ly it has alert­ed us about sev­er­al oth­er con­tain­ers there (Point Lisas port), so we will be look­ing and car­ry­ing our in­ves­ti­ga­tion fur­ther, hope­ful­ly to do some more in con­nec­tion with the drugs."Dur­ing a search last Thurs­day, po­lice of­fi­cers found a ship­ping con­tain­er which came from Ja­maica con­tain­ing 800 kilo­grammes of mar­i­jua­na at the port."We look at any kind of con­tra­band...drugs, guns that come in from dif­fer­ent coun­tries, in­clud­ing Ja­maica and cer­tain­ly we don't want that in our coun­try and we want to stop it be­fore it gets dis­trib­uted.

"This was a very good drug haul but we al­so know that it is just one of prob­a­bly many that has come our way and so we want to con­tin­ue that bat­tle against drugs...it is very im­por­tant for us."Ques­tioned about the in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the death of Daniel Guer­ra, Gibbs said the in­ves­ti­ga­tion was con­tin­u­ing."The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is still look­ing at pos­si­ble sus­pects," Gibbs added.
