The manhunt continues for two more suspects wanted in connection with the kidnapping of Parvatie "Peggy" Maharaj. Maharaj, 17, of Cumuto, was taken from her home at St Marie Emmanuel Road, Cumuto, last week Wednesday. She was found last Friday at Blanchisseuse Road, Arima.
Two men, Callistas Jobity, 20, of Subero Street, Arima, and his cousin Deuteronomy Jobity, 21, of Caratal Village, Cumuto, appeared before a Port-of-Spain magistrate on Tuesday to answer 14 charges stemming from the incident. Maharaj was rescued by a motorist on Blanchisseuse Road. The family was beaten and robbed of food, appliances, clothing and a car. A $50,000 ransom had been demanded for the release of Maharaj, an Upper Six Form student of North Eastern College, Sangre Grande.
