Dressed in a bright pink African outfit and headpiece, Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar made an appearance at the Baptist Union of T&T Family and Sports Day at Skinner Park, San Fernando, yesterday.
Persad-Bissessar left the Mayor's Box to meet and greet patrons and children in the pavilion. Saying education was the key to a good life, she reiterated the Government's intention to fund the Spiritual Baptist school in Maloney.
In addition, she said, Cowen Hamilton Secondary School had requested an extra wing and she would be taking the message to Minister of Education Dr Tim Gopeesingh. General secretary of the Baptist Union, Rev Anselm Warrick, welcomed the Prime Minister, adding that this was the fifth time the event had been held. He said 22 churches participated, with members taking part in various sporting events.
