Dressed in a bright pink African out­fit and head­piece, Prime Min­is­ter Per­sad-Bisses­sar made an ap­pear­ance at the Bap­tist Union of T&T Fam­i­ly and Sports Day at Skin­ner Park, San Fer­nan­do, yes­ter­day.

Per­sad-Bisses­sar left the May­or's Box to meet and greet pa­trons and chil­dren in the pavil­ion. Say­ing ed­u­ca­tion was the key to a good life, she re­it­er­at­ed the Gov­ern­ment's in­ten­tion to fund the Spir­i­tu­al Bap­tist school in Mal­oney.

In ad­di­tion, she said, Cowen Hamil­ton Sec­ondary School had re­quest­ed an ex­tra wing and she would be tak­ing the mes­sage to Min­is­ter of Ed­u­ca­tion Dr Tim Gopeesingh. Gen­er­al sec­re­tary of the Bap­tist Union, Rev Anselm War­rick, wel­comed the Prime Min­is­ter, adding that this was the fifth time the event had been held. He said 22 church­es par­tic­i­pat­ed, with mem­bers tak­ing part in var­i­ous sport­ing events.
