A 27-year-old man, of St John Road, St Au­gus­tine, was shot dead while in a neigh­bour's yard on Tues­day night. Po­lice said the killing of Juan Jaf­fra Ran­dolph Her­nan­dez pushed the mur­der toll to 106 for the year.

A re­port said that around 11.45 pm, Her­nan­dez was stand­ing in a neigh­bour's yard, op­po­site his house, when loud ex­plo­sions were heard.

He was found with gun­shot wounds. Her­nan­dez was tak­en to Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival. Homi­cide of­fi­cers are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
