At a time when pleas are being made for the nation's youths to deflect from a life crime, 180 peer educators have taken the lead. The graduands between the ages of 16 and 29 received their certification at the National Peer Education Programme graduation ceremony at Crowne Plaza Hotel yesterday.Delivering the feature address on behalf of the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Roberts, Permanent Secretary Jeniffer Jones told participants they needed to lead by example.
Urging the graduands to encourage their peers to follow in their footsteps, Jones said: "I cannot see you achieving success in positively transforming the lives of your colleagues if you are seen in your communities portraying lewd and sexually promiscuous behaviour, consuming alcohol, smoking and taking drugs and indulging in unhealthy lifestyles."As peer educators, you too, must become exemplars and role models to your peers."Challenging the group to encourage their peers to engage in positive transformation, Jones said they needed to dialogue openly.
