Yogita Jaigobin

Twelve-year-old Yogita Jaigobin has been missing since Monday. The Form One student of San Fernando East Secondary left her Penal home to go to school but never got there and did not return home. Her worried parents Sarah and Narine Jaigobin are appealing to anyone who may know where she is to contact the police or them immediately. With tears flowing down her cheeks, mother Sarah said: “I just want back my daughter. I hope she alive and safe.”

She said her daughter, the second of three children, left their Kanhai Lal Trace, Pluck Road, San Francique home around 6.30 am dressed in her school uniform, a plaid burgundy skirt, burgundy tie and white shirt, a green knapsack and black socks and shoes.  She said every morning Yogita would get a drop to T&TEC, Cipero Street, San Fernando and then travel to school. “She drop off by T&TEC but she never got to school.”  When she did not come home at 5.30 pm, Sarah called her husband and they went looking for her. They then made a missing persons report and went to her school.

She said her daughter did not have a cellular phone, but would usually take her (mother) phone to school.  However, she left it home. Describing her daughter as an angel, Sarah said Yogita would not go anywhere without them, apart from travelling to and from school.  “People always seeing me and she where ever we go,” sobbed Sarah, who added that her daughter never went to parties or spent the night out with friends.

Agreeing that children sometimes do stupid things, the parents said they did not believe she would run away from home. “She would not do anything like that,” Sarah said. The family have since made a report at the Penal Police Station and Anti-Kidnapping Bureau and are conducting their own searches. Police have no leads on her whereabouts. Anyone with information can contact 647-8888 or Yogita’s parents at 779-3552 or 335-8147.
