Family, friends and his many colleagues took time yesterday to celebrate the life of industrial relations consultant and former T&T Guardian columnist, Percival "Percy" Cezair in a memorial service held at the St Patrick's RC Church, Maraval Road, Port-of-Spain. Cezair, also a former mayor of Arima, was described as a warm and brilliant human being and people-oriented.
Mayor of Arima, Ghassan Youseph, who attended the ceremony, paid tribute to Cezair on behalf of the people of Arima. Youseph said it was under Cezair's leadership that many of the development in Arima began, including the construction of the Arima Velodrome. He said that Cezair was responsible for upgrading much of the infrastructure in the borough, paving dirt roads and constructing drains to the benefit of his people.
Cezair's daughter, Jill Cezair, expressed her thanks to all her father's friends and business associates for the tremendous support and well wishes. She said that she was still coping with his death as it was very sudden.
Cezair, who died on April 6, was laid to rest on Saturday. "He wanted a very private family funeral and that's what we gave him," said Jill.
