Days after news of the sudden, serious illness of veteran television personality Allyson Hennessy comes word that another long-standing member of the media fraternity is ailing.Ken Thomas, former Head of News at Isaac 98.1 FM, is battling stomach cancer.Thomas, 65, began his career with the now defunct Daily Mirror in the 1960s. He was later employed as the Guardian representative in Tobago and also reported from Scarborough for NBS Radio 610.
He migrated to Canada where he served for many years as the CANA correspondent in Toronto and also wrote for the Trinidad Express. He also worked as a photographer locally and in North America.As a journalist, Thomas also did assignments for Radio Antilles and was the presenter for ten years of the annual Christmas greeting programme, featuring students and other Trinidad and Tobago nationals residing in Canada. This was broadcast on Radio Trinidad,He is receiving treatment at home in Diego Martin after being hospitalised for several weeks.A devout Christian, he is taking his current health challenges with faith and courage.
