McLeod wants new board to restructure Nedco

The newly installed board of the National Entrepreneurship Development Company Ltd (Nedco) has been mandated to immediately start restructuring the organisation. Minister of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprises Errol McLeod made that call on Tuesday at the appointment of the Nedco board of directors at the Carlton Savannah, Cascade. McLeod said the board must be prepared to “hit the ground running.” He said due to poor governance in the past the new board must submit proposals for the restructuring of the company.
“I expect the board to lead the process of evaluating the operations of Nedco in the context of the changing financial and economic contexts and submit proposals for its restructuring and streamlining,” he said. McLeod said the ministry would be developing a new policy, strategy and institutional framework for micro and small enterprises. The board would be expected to contribute to the creation of the policy, he said. The board would also be responsible for the further decentralisation of Nedco’s services to ensure greater accessibility to them, he added. Two other boards, the Minimum Wages board and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) 144 Tripartite Committee, were also installed.
