The leak of a confidential report into Chrystal Boodoo-Ramsoomair's death may spare the family from going to court, attorney for her family Ravi Rajcoomar said yesterday."It seems this may be a way to save the family the trauma of litigation," Rajcoomar said in a telephone interview.He said they were waiting to see what position the Government would adopt, but vowed: "If we have to go to court, we will." Rajcoomar is representing Lorne Ramsoomair, the widower of Chrystal Boodoo-Ramsoomair and their three surviving children.Parts of the report, published exclusively in the Sunday Guardian, pointed fingers at the doctors, nurses, State and shortage at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH), in her March 4, death.
Rajcoomar said he would meet with Ramsoomair today to discuss the contents of the findings of the Dr Bharat Bassaw's four-member investigative commission into how his wife died after giving birth to a baby girl by Ceasarian-section.Bassaw's team also made recommendations. The report was submitted to Health Minister Theres Baptiste-Cornelis. She has since passed it on to Attorney General Anand Ramlogan.She told the media last week she submitted it to the AG because there were issues in it which need to be clarified. YW
