The Medical Practitioners of T&T (MPATT) will not be receiving a copy of the Chrystal Boodoo-Ramsumair report from the Ministry of Health, says Health Minister Therese Baptiste-Cornelis. She was speaking to the media at the ministry's Easter extravaganza at the Nealco car park, Edward Street, Port-of-Spain, yesterday.
Baptiste-Cornelis said she was aware of MPATT's response in the media. MPATT secretary Shehenaz Mohammed had called the leak calculated and mischievous. The minister said she agreed with MPATT that the leaking to the media was calculated and mischievous but added that giving MPATT a copy was not part of the process.
Baptiste-Cornelis said it was up to the board of the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) to decide if to give MPATT a copy. She said the board typically gave copies of a report to members of the family.
She said she did not know how the document was leaked but pointed out that with the Data Protection Act people could be fined for situations where documents were leaked. She said though the leaking of the document was wrong the decision by the Attorney General was not affected by it.
