The pun­dit charged with 29 counts of sex­u­al of­fences ap­peared in the Siparia Mag­is­trates' Court yes­ter­day.

Ro­han Ramjit, of the Shak­ti Tem­ple, Ner­an­thar Trace, Rousil­lac, ap­peared be­fore mag­is­trate Joanne Con­ner.

He was charged with 29 counts of sex­u­al of­fences which in­clud­ed hav­ing sex­u­al in­ter­course with a 14-year-old Princes Town girl be­tween 2008 and 2009.

Ramjit was ar­rest­ed by on Wednes­day. The charges were laid by PC Badree, of the La Brea Po­lice Sta­tion.

The mat­ter was held in cam­era as Con­ner or­dered the court­room to be cleared due to the na­ture of the case.

The ac­cused was re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody un­til Wednes­day when he will ap­pear at the Point Fortin Mag­is­trate Court.
