While his followers mourn his death and pay homage to Sathya Sai Baba, he will live on through the practice of his teachings says Dalvi Paladee, managing director of Pennywise Cosmetics Ltd and an active member of the Pasea Sai Centre, Tunapuna. Sai Baba, revered by millions of devotees worldwide as an avatar, a manifestation of a god-being in human form, died in a hospital in southern India on yesterday. Speaking with the Guardian yesterday, Paladee said: "Sai Baba has transformed thousands of peoples' lives in how they think, how they act and how they live in Trinidad and Tobago."
He said that transformation taught them how to live loving, caring lives and to look for the humanity in others.
Satnarine Paladee, another director of Pennywise, said the physical body would go, but what was more important were the teachings and the "presence of God within you." Nightly Satsangs will be held at the Pasea Sai Centre, Prescott Lane, Tunapuna, from 6-8 pm today and tomorrow. Yesterday, vigils were held at the Chaguanas Sai Centre, the Sai Nilayam headquarters in Londonville, Chaguanas, the Port-of-Spain Sai Centre and the Patiram Trace Sai Centre, Penal.
