A 16-year-old girl has appeared in the Tunapuna Magistrates' Court charged with wasting police time. The girl, of Oropoune Village, Piarco, appeared before Magistrate Gail Gonsales on Monday. She was charged after she reported to relatives on Saturday that she had been kidnapped by two men in a maxi taxi. Following her claims, a report was made at the Tunapuna Police Station. A team of officers, led by Seniro Supt Stephen Ramsubhag and including Cpls Drugmohan, Ganga Singh, PC Newton and WPC Theroulde conducted an investigation on Sunday morning. The officers' investigation led them to a house in Curepe where they found the girl. On Monday she was remanded in custody to reappear in court on May 16 pending a probation's officer report.
