About the initiative
The initiative, called the 21st Century Policing Project, would introduce a modern, contemporary and innovative approach to policing. One of the main aspects of this new way of doing police business, is the introduction of a new deployment system, which would allow officers to police the streets instead of remaining in the police stations. The new system places police officers in neighbourhoods and communities, patrolling and working with residents to prevent crime. This proactive approach to policing ensures the building of a true partnership between the police and residents.
