An eight-year-old girl, caught in the middle of a fight between her mother and a male relative, was stabbed several times about the body yesterday.Alea Flemming, a student of San Fernando Girls' Anglican School, of Quarry Road, Morne Diablo, was listed in a critical condition at San Fernando General Hospital up to late yesterday.The incident happened around 8.30 am at the child's home.
Reports said her mother, Denise Flemming, was being beaten by a 34-year-old male relative, during a heated argument about some telephone cards which could not be found.Police said Denise escaped from the man and fled inside a room, leaving her daughter behind.The man reportedly went into the kitchen, where he grabbed a knife and dealt the child several stabs about her forehead, neck and hand. It is reported that the man walked into the station yesterday evening and gave himself up.Constable Rock is investigating.
