Dr An­tho­ny Achong will be guest speak­er at to­day's gen­er­al meet­ing of the Steel­pan Tuner's Guild of Trinidad and To­ba­go at La Fan­tasie Re­source Learn­ing Cen­tre, La Fan­tasie, St Ann's, at 5 pm.Dr Achong, a sci­ence pro­fes­sor, will make a pre­sen­ta­tion on the steel­pan. Sev­er­al top­ics al­so are list­ed for dis­cus­sion, in­clud­ing in­sur­ance for mem­bers and Unit­ed States visa ap­pli­ca­tions.

All tuners are asked to make a spe­cial ef­fort to at­tend the meet­ing.The Tuners' Guild, an arm of Pan Trin­ba­go, was formed last year.Among its aims is to raise aware­ness among tuners about the need to doc­u­ment and patent their in­no­va­tions and to im­prove the qual­i­ty of tun­ing and clas­si­fi­ca­tion of tuners.Fitzroy Hen­ry, pres­i­dent, will chair the meet­ing.
