Three chil­dren are now or­phans af­ter a gun­man barged in­to their Princes Town home yes­ter­day morn­ing and killed their moth­er. Po­lice said at around 9 am, Si­mone Guerero, 27, of Rag­birs­ingh Street, was shot in her head at point black range by a for­mer boyfriend. She had just walked in­to her bed­room af­ter tak­ing a show­er when the man burst through a door and shot her in the head.

Guerero's fa­ther was forced to wit­ness her trag­ic death as the man dragged him in­to the bed­room be­fore he shot her. He then es­caped in a gold Nis­san Almera. Guerero was rushed to the Princes Town Health Fa­cil­i­ty but was pro­nounced died on ar­rival. A friend of Guerero said she had end­ed her re­la­tion­ship with the the man some­time ago but he had made sev­er­al threats to kill her. She said on Thurs­day night Guerero made a re­port to the Princes Town Po­lice af­ter the man ha­rassed her. "Look at what hap­pen now. What will hap­pen to those chil­dren?" the friend asked.

Po­lice are con­fi­dent of an ar­rest as they said the sus­pect, who is in his 40s, was known to them. At the time of the shoot­ing, a friend of Guerero was in an­oth­er room look­ing af­ter her chil­dren who are six, five and three years old. They are now or­phans as their fa­ther was killed in an au­to­mo­bile ac­ci­dent some years ago. Guerero was a nail tech­ni­cian who op­er­at­ed a sa­lon in San Fer­nan­do. She had re­cent­ly start­ed train­ing with an in­sur­ance com­pa­ny with the aim of be­com­ing a sales agent. Sgt Don Ga­jad­har, of the Princes Town CID, is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
