Three children are now orphans after a gunman barged into their Princes Town home yesterday morning and killed their mother. Police said at around 9 am, Simone Guerero, 27, of Ragbirsingh Street, was shot in her head at point black range by a former boyfriend. She had just walked into her bedroom after taking a shower when the man burst through a door and shot her in the head.
Guerero's father was forced to witness her tragic death as the man dragged him into the bedroom before he shot her. He then escaped in a gold Nissan Almera. Guerero was rushed to the Princes Town Health Facility but was pronounced died on arrival. A friend of Guerero said she had ended her relationship with the the man sometime ago but he had made several threats to kill her. She said on Thursday night Guerero made a report to the Princes Town Police after the man harassed her. "Look at what happen now. What will happen to those children?" the friend asked.
Police are confident of an arrest as they said the suspect, who is in his 40s, was known to them. At the time of the shooting, a friend of Guerero was in another room looking after her children who are six, five and three years old. They are now orphans as their father was killed in an automobile accident some years ago. Guerero was a nail technician who operated a salon in San Fernando. She had recently started training with an insurance company with the aim of becoming a sales agent. Sgt Don Gajadhar, of the Princes Town CID, is continuing investigations.
