History was created in the T&T Police Service (TTPS) yesterday when 22 woman police officers were all promoted at the same time to the First Division—three of them to the rank of Assistant Commissioners.
Eulyna Julius, Ann Marie Alleyne and Magaret Sampson-Browne were promoted to ACP during the promotion exercise at Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain.  A total of 115 officers were promoted between the rank of superintendent to assistant commissioner.

Police commissioner Dwayne Gibbs said the promotions were a milestone in the leadership. He added: “The TTPS has been able to create an environment where women in the service are fully immersed and allowed to participate in the decision-making process of our organisation and recognised as equal partners at the executive level.  “This historical promotion today clearly demonstrates our commitment to transforming and modernising the Police Service.”

The commissioner said all vacancies were filled through a transparent and fair process.  President of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association Sgt Anand Ramesar said the promoted officers should be compassionate to the officers who were not promoted. “Be compassionate to the fellow officers who are not here and sensitive to their concerns when you return to a higher position,” Ramesar said.
