On the eve of the People's Partnership's first anniversary former Prime Minister Patrick Manning has announced that he will embark on a seven day march from the Red House to San Fernando protesting his suspension. In an emphatic declaration of "I not taking that," Manning last night called on supporters gathered at his Coffee Street, San Fernando constituency office to join him as he marches from the Red House to San Fernando starting Wednesday at 3.30 pm.
This after the San Fernando East MP declared that his suspension from Parliament last week was an injustice. "For the first time in 40 years I am unable to do what I was mandated to do. I am unable to represent the people in San Fernando East," he said, as he announced that his executive has approved his proposal to walk from the Red House to San Fernando.
Manning said for too long he sat and watched in silence as the PP Government, led by Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar, did what it pleased. However, "this thing has gone to far. The time has come for right thinking people to raise their voices," Manning declared. The walk, he said, "is a protest walk protesting injustices to all people in Trinidad and Tobago." Last week the Privileges Committee found Manning guilty of misleading the House and suspended him until the proroguing of Parliament.
