Member of Parliament for St Augustine and Legal Affairs Minister Prakash Ramadhar will be contesting the post of political leader of the Congress of the People (COP) in the party’s upcoming internal elections. Ramadhar will be up against against MP for D’Abadie/O’Meara Anil Roberts and the party’s vice-chairman Vernon de Lima in the July 3 party elections. He announced his candidacy yesterday, during a news conference held at the COP flagship house, Broome Street, Woodbrook. His announcement came days after  incumbent COP political leader Winston Dookeran revealed that he would not be contesting the leadership post. Ramadhar outlined constitutional reform, the development of legislative agenda of the COP and the development of appropriate structures to guide and define roles within the People’s Partnership Government as three of his main objectives.
