Don't target us. That's what president of the Route Two Maxi-Taxi Association, Linus Phillip, said in response to the Central Bank Governor's statement that maxi-taxi premiums could double. Phillip said the insurance companies which were offering under-priced third party policies should be investigated.
Speaking at the association's office at the maxi-taxi hub yesterday at City Gate, Port-of-Spain, Phillip said it was too soon to say if the association would take any action. On Wednesday, Governor Ewart Williams said selling cheap motor insurance, particularly by firms that insured maxi-taxis, had resulted in inadequate reserves to cover the claims for which insurance companies were liable.
