Cedros fisherman Rajesh Mahase was left homeless after fire destroyed his house on Sunday afternoon. Mahase, 38, of Los Gallos, secured his home around 8 am as he left home to fish in the Gulf of Paria. At around 4.45 pm, Mahase got information his home was on fire. When he got to the scene, the wooden two-storey structure was engulfed in flames. When fire officers arrived, the structure had been completely destroyed. Damage is estimated at $90,000. The house was occupied by Mahase and his brother, Jagdeo. The cause of fire is yet to be determined and investigations are continuing.
