Former government minister and Tobago East MP Rennie Dumas, who was charged with assault on Tuesday, has resigned from his position in the Office of the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly. Dumas, who held the post of Co-ordinator, Strategic Oversight Unit, tendered his resignation with immediate effect to Chief Secretary Orville London just hours after he was served with a summons to answer the assault charges. He is charged with common assault and occasioning actual bodily harm on Roger Simon and is due to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate next Wednesday.
