Police have arrested and charged a male relative for the murder of Barrackpore pensioner Calvin Partap Gosine who was fatally stabbed on June 6. Police had initially detained Gosine's wife but after conducting enquiries, she was released and a search was mounted for the male relative. Reports said the man went missing after he gave a statement to police following Gosine's death. He was charged on Saturday by Woman Corporal Morrison of Southern Division Homicide.
Gosine, 63, was murdered at his Cunjal Road home. According to reports, he was in the company of his wife and a relative when there was an altercation that ended with the fatal stabbing. Gosine died at the scene before an ambulance could arrive. The relative is expected to appear in the Siparia Magistrates Court tomorrow.
