The Meteorological Society of T&T says citizens can expect a weekend filled with heavy rainfall and isolated thundershowers. The rainy forecast, starting today, is attributed to a moderately active Inter-tropical convergence zone and should result in scattered showers and isolated thunder showers, the same conditions that left commuters around the country rain-soaked and frustrated on Wednesday. According to the T&T Met Office flooding could be expected in prone areas. The T&T Met Office advised that T&T was not under any storm threat or warning.
However, the public have been advised to:
• Stay calm, alert and cautious;
• be cautious when driving along hillsides or landslide prone areas;
• if there is flooding, do not walk or drive through flood waters. Stay inside until water levels have subsided; and,
• be alert to any electrical discharges or thundercloud activity and adopt measures which would preserve life and property.
