PNM agents holding positions in government offices are using bureaucracy to slow down the delivery process. So said Jack Warner, the Chaguanas West MP and Minister of Works and Transport.Warner was speaking with reporters yesterday morning at his Caroni Savannah Road office where he was attending to more than 400 people from across T&T who came seeking assistance for employment, housing and related social problems they are experiencing.
Warner said the people were flocking to his office because the system is moving too slow to deliver the goods.Warner said this was in part the fault of "PNM bureaucrats" in the system who are deliberately slowing down the delivery process to make the Government look bad. "I am sure if you talk to any Minister, he or she would tell you that."However, Warner said the "PNM bureaucrats" would not succeed."We have to find a way to serve the people better and more quickly. The system has to be corrected."Warner also gave a wheelchair to 32–year-old Stephen Job from Morvant who came to his office from 11 pm on Friday seeking employment.
Job said he operates "PH" taxi from Morvant to Port-of-Spain. Job said he drives a specially modified vehicle but was robbed twice by bandits. Job said he was hoping that the Government would pass the "PH" bill soon.Warner said he was saddened to see Job's plight but was encouraged that Job was seeking employment rather than a handout.Warner said the PH bill would be passed in the first session of the Parliament and foresees no challenge to getting the bill passed.Warner also received a pleasant surprise from an individual named Brandon Simeon, 51, of Diego Martin who gave him a gift of a pen set.
