Foreign Affairs Minister Suruj Rambachan leaves this morning at the head of a T&T delegation to attend the 32nd Caricom summit in St Kitts/Nevis which begins today.Venue is the St Kitts Marriot Resort hotel at Frigate Bay.Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is expected to arrive in St Kitts tomorrow, since she is attending the final leg of the Women's Conference at Hilton Trinidad today.
Accompanying Rambachan are former Caricom secretary general Edwin Carrington, now an ambassador with the Government, Ambassador Mervyn Assam and Trade Minister Stephen Cadiz.Regional ministers begin meetings from this afternoon before the official opening ceremony at St Kitt's Eastern Caribbean Development Bank headquarters later tonight.The opening ceremony features the presentation of a regional award to Carrington, as well as addresses by recently-elected regional leaders from Barbados, Haiti, Suriname and St Vincent.The summit takes place amid a strike by regional airline LIAT ground staff.
