Hardware dealer Hemant Bridglalsingh, has been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the San Fernando General Hospital, two days after he was shot in the back by unknown assailants. Police sources said Bridglalsingh, 45, was transferred out of Ward 7 and taken to the ICU where he remains warded under police guard.
Investigators said Bridglalsingh was unable to recognise the gunman who fired at him at point blank range as he was opening the front gates of his Chinese Village, La Brea home, around 10 pm on Sunday. Senior police sources said they have begun interviewing suspects but there is no concrete evidence as yet to lay charges. A few months before the shooting, Bridglalsingh reported that he had received death threats. Police are now asking that nyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS. PC Gopaul of La Brea Police Station is investigating.
