An autopsy done on the body of nine-month-old Tysha Peters who died at her Guayaguayare home on Monday, revealed that death was due to positional asphyxia. The autopsy, which was done at the Forensic Science Centre on Tuesday, found that the infant was deprived of oxygen as her chest was compressed between a bed and a wall.
On Monday, Tysha's mother, Angela Louisou, fed her at around 8 am and placed her on a bed to rest. Shortly afterwards, Louisou checked on the child and discovered that she was stuck between the bed and the wall and remained motionless. The baby was rushed to the Mayaro District Health Facility where she was pronounced dead on arrival. In May, five month-old Tyrese David died at JC's Day-Care in San Fernando after he was fed and placed in a crib to sleep. His death was also due to positional asphyxia.
