A fireman yesterday was charged with driving while intoxicated and illegally using the Priority Bus Route.Tyrone Sheppard, 37, of Barataria, appeared before Magistrate Andrew Stroude in the Tunapuna Magistrates' Court to answer the charges.Police claimed Sheppard was three times above the legal alcohol limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol for every 100 millilitres of breath at the time of his arrest on Sunday.
Meanwhile, police up to late yesterday were continuing investigations into the death of a man who was knocked down and killed on the bus route on Sunday.Reports said around 4.35 pm, Sheldon George, 28, of Old Tim Street, St Augustine, was crossing the bus route near the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, when he was knocked down.He died on the spot.St Joseph Police are continuing investigations.(DA)
