A fire­man yes­ter­day was charged with dri­ving while in­tox­i­cat­ed and il­le­gal­ly us­ing the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route.Ty­rone Shep­pard, 37, of Barataria, ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate An­drew Stroude in the Tu­na­puna Mag­is­trates' Court to an­swer the charges.Po­lice claimed Shep­pard was three times above the le­gal al­co­hol lim­it of 35 mi­cro­grammes of al­co­hol for every 100 mil­li­l­itres of breath at the time of his ar­rest on Sun­day.

Mean­while, po­lice up to late yes­ter­day were con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the death of a man who was knocked down and killed on the bus route on Sun­day.Re­ports said around 4.35 pm, Shel­don George, 28, of Old Tim Street, St Au­gus­tine, was cross­ing the bus route near the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies, St Au­gus­tine, when he was knocked down.He died on the spot.St Joseph Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.(DA)
