Three people escaped death in the early hours of yesterday morning, when their vehicle crashed into an electricity pole on the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway. Police said around 6 am, Shenelle Potter and Maurisha Lawrence were travelling south along the highway in a Nissan B-14 car driven by Nigel Williams. Williams told investigators that when the vehicle got close to the Preysal Flyover, another vehicle swerved in front of his car. He said that in an attempt to avoid a collision, he pulled to the left and this caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
Reports stated that the car struck the guard on the median before crashing into the post. Lawrence received multiple injuries and had to be rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was warded in a stable condition. Both Williams and Potter received treatment for minor injuries and were discharged. Couva police are continuing investigations.
