Daren Ganga, captain of the national cricket team and Sports Ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago shared inspirational words with young people attending a windball night cricket tournament hosted by the Carapichaima Business Association (CBA), on July 30. Ganga was joined by other prominent personalities such as Member of Parliament for Couva North and Minister in the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development Ramona Ramdial; Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education Fazal Karim and CBA members. As the event got going, a first over was bowled to Ganga by Ministers Ramdial and Karim. The theme of the tournament is Keeping the Community Active.
A release indicated the CBA's vision is to support the holistic development of the Carapichaima area as a growth pole and strategic economic centre. It said: "CBA is concerned with fostering the development of businesses, families and the community through outreach programmes which stimulate innovation, creativity, wellness and community interaction." It added: "The cricket series was conceptualised to encourage such interaction, and provide an opportunity for cricketers, both young and not-so-young to showcase their talents and enjoy healthy competition." Attending the formalities, captains of all participating teams, team members and residents of the community greeted Ganga and parliamentarians.
