San Fernando clothing vendor Winston Partap was yesterday told he will have to wait one week for the release of his goods. That's the length of time it will take to have the items photographed for court exhibit, according to police prosecutor Sgt Roland Williams. Partap appeared before San Fernando Fifth Court Magistrate Taramattie Ramdass yesterday and pleaded not guilty to three illegal vending charges. He was among eight High Street, San Fernando vendors who appeared before Ramdass charged separately with offering for sale marketable goods without a licence from the San Fernando City Corporation; unlawfully pitching a stall and wilful obstruction of a passageway.
After Partap pleaded not guilty Williams indicated that the items seized from him will have to be photographed before they are returned. The other vendors, Ashmead Haniff, Gopaul Sinanan, Narendra Ramlal, Clavin Layne, Sadna Dipnarine, Sandra Sultan and Surajdaye Ram, pleaded guilty. They were each granted $1,000 bail to reappear in court this morning for facts and sentencing. Partap who was also granted $1,000 bail will return to court on August 28. (RR)
