For­mer hous­ing min­is­ter un­der the Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) Dr Vin­cent Lasse is ex­pect­ed to be ap­point­ed as chair­man of the Pub­lic Trans­port Ser­vice Cor­po­ra­tion (PTSC) to­day. Lasse, 74, re­places De­vant Ma­haraj who was el­e­vat­ed to Trans­port Min­is­ter when Cab­i­net was reshuf­fled by Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar in June. Lasse is al­so a mem­ber of the board of di­rec­tors of the En­vi­ron­men­tal Man­age­ment Au­thor­i­ty. He served as a Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for Point Fortin from 1991 to 2000. In Feb­ru­ary 1997, Lasse was ex­pelled from the PNM af­ter in­di­cat­ing he want­ed to be­came an in­de­pen­dent MP. He joined the PNM in 1976. Hours af­ter he left the PNM, Lasse was sworn in as a min­is­ter in the Bas­deo Pan­day coali­tion gov­ern­ment. In 2000, he lost the Point Fortin seat to Lar­ry Achong.
