Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan is proposing a reward system for regional corporations reducing the presence of dengue in their areas. The minister was speaking yesterday at a consultation on public health issues affecting the regions in T&T, conducted at the Trinidad Hilton and Conference Centre, Port-of-Spain. Khan praised the efforts being taken by regional corporations, especially the Mayaro/Rio Claro Regional Corporation, that have had fewer than ten cases of dengue over the past year.
He attributed the success to intiatives taken by the ministry. Khan said to encourage corporations' regional health inspectors, the ministry will look at creating an initiative to reward corporations and their inspectors upon reducing cases of dengue by a certain percentage within the jurisdiction. He said he would consult with both the ministry's legal team and the Ministry of Local Government to find effective ways to implement the proposed reward scheme.
