Guardian Life is re­in­forc­ing its com­mit­ment to ed­u­ca­tion by once again part­ner­ing with The Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies, St Au­gus­tine cam­pus, to host the UWI/Guardian Life Pre­mi­um Open Lec­ture 2011, on Sep­tem­ber 30 at 5.30 pm, at the Daa­ga Au­di­to­ri­um, UWI. This event, or­gan­ised through the In­struc­tion­al De­vel­op­ment Unit (IDU), The UWI, St Au­gus­tine aims to con­tribute to the uni­ver­si­ty's com­mit­ment to out­reach and gen­er­al ed­u­ca­tion of the pub­lic.

De­liv­er­ing this year's lec­ture is Dr Maryellen Weimer, Pro­fes­sor Emeri­ta of Teach­ing and Learn­ing, Penn State Uni­ver­si­ty, USA, and win­ner of the Mil­ton S Eisen­how­er award for dis­tin­guished teach­ing. Her talk is en­ti­tled Max­i­mum Im­pact: Us­ing Feed­back to Dri­ve As­sess­ment. The lec­ture tar­gets the teach­ing fra­ter­ni­ty with spe­cial in­vi­ta­tions to teach­ers and teach­ing ad­min­is­tra­tors of ter­tiary in­sti­tu­tions, sec­ondary and pri­ma­ry schools and mem­bers of the gen­er­al pub­lic who are in­ter­est­ed in ed­u­ca­tion. The pub­lic is en­cour­aged to at­tend.
