Police are now on the hunt for two men suspected of involvement in an early morning robbery where two patrons were relieved of their belongings in Marabella. Reports stated that around 8.20 am on Friday, shortly after Dave's Bar at Battoo Avenue opened for business, two bandits entered the establishment and announced a hold-up. At the time of the robbery, the bar was occupied by the owner and two patrons. The assailants demanded the customers hand over their cellphones and a sum of cash which police are yet to ascertain. The bar owner was also ordered to hand over several bottles of alcohol and packs of cigarettes. The men then escaped on foot and the Marabella police were called in to investigate.
A search of the area was made but the suspects are yet to be detained. Police said they were confident of an arrest. PC Phillips is continuing inquiries. Also, a man from La Romaine, believed to be in his early 30s, was picked up by police after he was caught with a quantity of marijuana. He is expected to be charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and is set to appear before a San Fernando magistrate tomorrow.
