Two security guards were each placed on $200,000 bail after being charged with stealing more than $120,000 in goods from a Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) warehouse in Port-of-Spain.
Glendford Archibald, 42, of Solomon Drive, Carapichaima, and Travis Belfon, 28, of Partap Trace, Moruga, were not called upon to plead when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates' Court. The charges against them are that during the period August 25 to September 1, they broke and entered into a warehouse at PTSC's City Gate, South Quay, Port-of-Spain, headquarters. Archibald and Belfon were assigned as estate constables to the facility at the time of the robbery.
It was alleged that 37 pairs of steel-tipped boots, valued at $37, 273.69, 10 LCD televisions, valued at $60,000, and six DVD players, valued at $27,000, were stolen. The total value of the goods was given as $123,273.69. Both men were ordered to surrender their passports and to report to the police three times a week as conditions of their bail. Archibald was represented by attorney Vincent Charles, while Christon J Williams represented Belfon. The matter was prosecuted by Sgt Azard Ali and was adjourned to October 3.
