A physical land-use plan is expected to be completed by next year and a bill to make land-use policy is soon to follow. This was revealed by Minister of Planning Dr Bhoe Tewarie on Tuesday during a land-use consultation with community members in Caura Valley. Tewarie told residents this would ensure that people would not use prime agricultural lands for buildings or warehouses.
"We don't want another fight between housing and food production," Tewarie quipped. He said the plan would ensure that land in both Trinidad and Tobago was put to the best possible use. Tewarie told residents that the ministry would need to work with all 524 communities in order to develop a plan for the country. "We want to make T&T a living work of art," he said. (KC)
