Two work­ers of a lease op­er­a­tor oil drilling com­pa­ny in Fyz­abad died while an­oth­er was crit­i­cal­ly in­jured, af­ter an ac­ci­dent at For­est Re­serve pro­duc­tion fields yes­ter­day. De­tails of the in­ci­dent re­mained sketchy up to press time. Po­lice said they had not yet re­ceived an of­fi­cial re­port about the deaths. How­ev­er, pres­i­dent gen­er­al of the Oil­fields Work­ers' Trade Union, An­cel Ro­get, con­firmed the tragedy and said the lease op­er­a­tor was yet to pro­vide de­tails to the union of the tragedy. Un­of­fi­cial re­ports in­di­cate that the men were work­ing on an oil rig, named Al­tec, around 11 am in Fyz­abad, when a mal­func­tion oc­curred. Sources said there was an ex­plo­sion.

The men, who were not iden­ti­fied up to press time, died in­stant­ly while an­oth­er was rushed to a pri­vate med­ical fa­cil­i­ty. He was said to be ward­ed in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion. Ro­get said an in­ves­ti­ga­tion had been launched in­to the in­ci­dent. He said de­tails would be re­leased pend­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions. Se­nior po­lice of­fi­cers said they al­so had heard of the dou­ble deaths but were not of­fi­cial­ly in­formed. The of­fi­cer said in­ves­ti­ga­tions had been launched in­to the in­ci­dent.
