Two workers of a lease operator oil drilling company in Fyzabad died while another was critically injured, after an accident at Forest Reserve production fields yesterday. Details of the incident remained sketchy up to press time. Police said they had not yet received an official report about the deaths. However, president general of the Oilfields Workers' Trade Union, Ancel Roget, confirmed the tragedy and said the lease operator was yet to provide details to the union of the tragedy. Unofficial reports indicate that the men were working on an oil rig, named Altec, around 11 am in Fyzabad, when a malfunction occurred. Sources said there was an explosion.
The men, who were not identified up to press time, died instantly while another was rushed to a private medical facility. He was said to be warded in a critical condition. Roget said an investigation had been launched into the incident. He said details would be released pending investigations.
