Five-year-old Kristi­na Pom­pey will not com­plete her school­ing. The lit­tle girl was crushed to death when a wood­en bed fell on her. The in­ci­dent hap­pened at Kristi­na's home, Green Dri­ve, Pat­na Vil­lage, Diego Mar­tin.

Kristi­na, a First Year stu­dent of Di­a­mond Vale Gov­ern­ment Pri­ma­ry School, died at the St James Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal on Sun­day around 10.30 am. In an in­ter­view at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal yes­ter­day, Kristi­na's moth­er, Kim­ber­ly Pom­pey, said she was shocked af­ter re­ceiv­ing the au­top­sy re­sults. The re­sults re­vealed Kristi­na died of sev­er­al cere­bral in­juries and a frac­tured skull.

Kim­ber­ly, a moth­er of three, said the house was un­der ren­o­va­tion and Kristi­na went in the bed­room to see her fa­ther, Adriel. Adriel, a ma­son by trade, was do­ing work on the house. "I was in the kitchen and I just gave them (chil­dren) some ba­nanas and wa­ter­mel­on to eat. She got up and ran in­to the bed­room when I heard her fa­ther call­ing," she said. Kim­ber­ly said when she ran in­to the bed­room she saw her daugh­ter with the heavy bed on top of her. She added: "She was so ex­cit­ed to go to school and she just couldn't wait to start last week. "She told me she want­ed us to have an­oth­er ba­by. She has a sis­ter so she want­ed her broth­er to have a broth­er." Kim­ber­ly said.

Adriel said: "She al­ways used to like watch­ing me work. She came in­to the bed­room when I was do­ing the ceil­ing and the bed just fall down." Kim­ber­ly said Kristi­na liked to sing ca­lyp­so and dance. West End Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­quiries.
