A Tunapuna man was shot dead on Tuesday at Upper Oxford Street, Port-of-Spain. Roland Audain, 26, was shot seven times about the body, police said. His death was recorded as the 15th murder since the state of emergency was implemented on August 21-one month ago. It also pushed the murder toll to 283 for the year, compared to 363 for the corresponding period last year. A report said around 7 pm residents heard loud explosions and notified the police.
When the lawmen arrived at the scene, Audain was found lying on the roadway. The body was viewed by the district medical officer and ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, for an autopsy. Residents told police Audain was not known in the area. There were no arrests up to late yesterday. PC Sheldon Bellille, of the Homicide Bureau, is continuing investigations.
