Speaking at his annual birthday celebration at the Sting nightclub, La Romaine, on Saturday night, Ramnarine declared: "I love what my Prime Minister is doing for crime. We need to stop crime but don't kill the music industry. "They said the state of emergency was going to stop this party but it can't stop we music!" It was then the party went into full swing as Ramnarine kicked off the revelry with "Oh Basante." He was then joined on stage by members of the Dutch crossover band "2 Famous" who delivered a unique blend of Trini/Dutch chutney. Ramnarine told patrons he didn't want them to get into trouble with the law, so at 9 pm, the party ended to allow patrons enough time to get home. Several patrons said the annual birthday lime had less patrons this year because of the state of emergency. Since the start of the state of emergency, several businesses, including bars and nightclubs, have reported severe losses. Popular liming spots in south Trinidad such as Space La Nouba, Prive and Sting have introduced events at which patrons party indoor during the curfew hours and are not allowed to leave until 4 am. However, the police have cautioned club owners against those events since they claim circumstances could arise that may cause people to venture onto the streets in breach of the curfew restrictions.
